Overview We are recruiting a Shift Technician to join a high-performing engineering team within one of the UK’s most prestigious financial institutions.
Operating within a secure, mission-critical environment, you will support the maintenance and operation of a diverse estate including corporate offices, production facilities, and data centres. The Engineering Team You will be part of a team of 50+ engineers providing 24/7 support across multiple critical sites, including:
  • Corporate office environments
  • Operational and production facilities
  • Data centre infrastructure
All sites require highly reliable engineering services to ensure continuous operation and business continuity.
Role Overview As a Shift Technician, you will deliver both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, ensuring all electrical, mechanical, and critical systems operate safely and efficiently.
Working alongside the Shift Leader, OEM contractors, and engineering teams, you will play a key role in maintaining uptime, compliance, and system reliability within a 24/7 critical environment.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Operations
  • Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) using IWMS / CAFM systems (e.g. Planon)
  • Respond to reactive maintenance tasks, minimising downtime and disruption
  • Conduct routine plant inspections and condition monitoring
  • Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs across M&E systems
  • Maintain and troubleshoot:
    • HVAC and BMS systems
    • Electrical systems (LV/HV)
    • Public health / plumbing systems
    • Fire detection and life safety systems
  • Support statutory inspections, audits, and compliance testing
  • Provide accurate shift handovers and maintain technical documentation
Compliance & Safety
  • Work closely with OEM contractors and specialist vendors
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, Safe Systems of Work, and site procedures
  • Participate in:
    • On-call rota and emergency response
    • Incident escalation and resolution
    • Business continuity and resilience planning
  • Support training, competency assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Act as Authorised Person (AP) for LV or mechanical systems (where applicable)
Skills & Experience Essential
  • City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering
  • Experience in critical environments (data centres, facilities management, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • HVAC and BMS systems
    • Electrical systems (LV/HV)
    • Public health and life safety systems
  • Experience using IWMS / CAFM systems (ideally Planon)
  • Understanding of statutory compliance and Safe Systems of Work
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings and technical schematics
Desirable
  • Previous Authorised Person (AP) experience (LV or HV)
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience in high-security or regulated environments
