Job Overview
As a Data Centre Shift Leader / Shift Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the uptime, availability, and reliability of our data centre operations. You will oversee maintenance activities, ensuring they meet or exceed defined SLAs and comply with company policies and procedures.
Main Responsibilities
Operate and maintain electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems under a strict change management system to achieve 100% uptime.
Monitor and troubleshoot site and plant equipment support systems, handling incidents, problems, changes, escalation, and resolution.
Manage mechanical and electrical plant and systems, including HVAC, generators, UPS, fire alarms, suppression systems, low and high voltage switching, water systems, and associated equipment.
Utilise operational systems including BMS, PMS, and CMS to monitor and control site performance.
Coordinate sub-contracted resources as needed to deliver safe, high-quality service.
Manage and coordinate all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities according to schedule.
Requirements
Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent
X Forces Engineering Qualification and experience
High-Pressure Precision Engineering experience
HND in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent (desirable)
Background in a Critical Environment / Data Centre (desirable)
Professional electrical or mechanical certification (National Craft Certificate, Registered Electrical/Mechanical Contractor, or equivalent)
Experience in troubleshooting and repairing low & medium voltage electrical systems
Experience in mechanical/HVAC systems troubleshooting and repair
Knowledge and ability to apply safe electrical practices according to guidelines and regulations
Candidate Attributes
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Detailed understanding of Change Management processes and procedures
Ability to follow procedures, system documentation, and track issues via a Service Desk Ticketing system
Good judgment and decision-making instincts
Ability to collaborate with support teams to resolve complex issues
Knowledge of BMS systems and a solid understanding of PPM/CAFM systems
