Electrical Engineer – Mission Critical Environment
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team operating within a mission-critical environment.
This hands-on role offers exposure to electrical, mechanical, and building systems, delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance to ensure safe, efficient, and resilient operations. You will take ownership of maintenance activities while working closely with the Shift Leader to maintain system performance and protect the operational integrity of plant, equipment, and critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Operations
Deliver PPM, reactive, and emergency maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems in line with contractual requirements.
Monitor, maintain, and report on plant systems and Building Management Systems (BMS), escalating faults and anomalies where necessary.
Conduct routine inspections and scheduled maintenance to high engineering standards.
Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical plant, controls, and associated equipment.
Respond to Helpdesk requests and resolve reactive issues involving HVAC systems, pumps, valves, pipework, water tanks, and associated infrastructure.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve preventative maintenance and maintain high site standards.
Support incident management and fault response within secure, business-critical environments.
Assist in the training and mentoring of colleagues on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
Experience & Technical Expertise
Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer within commercial, industrial, or mission-critical environments.
Strong understanding of SFG20 PPM schedules (or equivalent) with excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Hands-on experience with:
Air Handling Units (AHUs)
Building Management Systems (BMS)
Air conditioning systems
Heating, ventilation, and cold-water systems
Water treatment systems
UPS systems and emergency generators
Experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams in complex facilities.
Strong background in M&E operations within business-critical environments.
Authorisations & Environment
HV and LV Authorised Person (AP) status.
Familiarity with fuel systems, HV generation, and control systems.
Experience working within secure or critical environments.
Ability to complete critical environment and scenario-based training.
Desirable Qualifications
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Completed Electrical Apprenticeship
IOSH Working Safely or Managing Safely
L8 Water Hygiene Training
Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, including Permit to Work (PTW) and RAMS
Skills & Attributes
