Job Overview
Power the systems that power the world.
We are seeking an experienced High Voltage Authorised Person (HVAP) to join a state-of-the-art data centre supporting business-critical infrastructure within a high-performance, zero-tolerance environment.
As a Data Centre HVAP Technician, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding electrical safety and operational continuity. Working closely with the Building Engineering Supervisor and Engineering Shift Leader, you will take ownership of high-voltage operations, planned maintenance, and incident response across critical infrastructure.
This continental shift position offers autonomy, technical breadth, and exposure to advanced mission-critical systems where precision, compliance, and safety are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Critical Engineering & Operations
Deliver planned preventative and reactive maintenance across electrical and associated building systems in line with SLAs.
Act as the site HV Authorised Person, carrying out safe switching operations, isolations, and control of high-risk activities.
Prepare, review, and execute switching schedules, SOPs, and EOPs in accordance with approved Safe Systems of Work.
Respond promptly to BMS alarms and unplanned events, diagnosing faults and restoring services with minimal disruption.
Maintain system uptime and protect the integrity of critical infrastructure.
Safety, Compliance & Control
Administer the Permit to Work (PTW) system, ensuring all authorisations, documentation, and control measures are correctly implemented.
Prepare, review, and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
Maintain evaporative cooling and domestic water systems in compliance with L8 regulations.
Supervise subcontractors and specialist vendors, ensuring safe and compliant delivery of works.
Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Operational Support & Reporting
Support incident management during faults, outages, and emergency situations.
Monitor and maintain availability of critical spares and essential materials.
Accurately complete maintenance documentation and technical reports using REALM or equivalent CAFM systems.
Build effective working relationships with internal teams and client representatives.
Promote a safe, professional environment with a strong customer-focused approach.
Development & Continuous Improvement
Enhance technical capability through ongoing training and professional development.
Demonstrate accountability and pride in maintaining high operational standards.
Contribute to initiatives that strengthen safety, compliance, and system reliability.
Essential Requirements
Current HV Authorisation (Authorised Person status).
Up-to-date Wiring Regulations certification.
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
Emergency First Aid at Work certification.
Proven experience within mission-critical or high-availability environments.
Strong understanding of health & safety legislation relating to maintenance operations.
Excellent communication skills with a professional and confident manner.
High level of attention to detail with strong numeracy and literacy skills.
Self-motivated and dependable, with a strong commitment to safe systems of work.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively under pressure.
Physically capable of accessing plant areas, including the use of vertical access equipment.
Flexible approach to continental shift patterns.
Desirable
Manual Handling certification.
PASMA and IPAF qualifications.
Familiarity with integrated systems such as Fire, PMS, and BMS platforms.
Strong sense of ownership and accountability within critical environments.
Why Join Us?
This role goes beyond routine maintenance — you will help protect the infrastructure that keeps global businesses operational.
You will work with advanced electrical systems, follow clearly defined development pathways, and join a professional, safety-driven team where reliability, compliance, and technical excellence are the standard.
If you are an experienced HV Authorised Person ready to operate at the highest level within a mission-critical environment, we welcome your application.
