Shift Technician – Engineering 📍 Location: UK – Critical Sites

The Property Department, through its Infrastructure Engineering function, maintains and safeguards the organisation’s built environment. This includes delivering resilient engineering services across office, production, and data centre sites, supporting continuous business operations and major capital projects.
The Engineering Team The Engineering team comprises approximately 56 full-time professionals providing 24/7 support across three critical sites. This includes office accommodation, production environments, and data centre infrastructure, all requiring high-reliability engineering services to support mission-critical operations.
Role Overview As a Shift Technician, you will play a pivotal role in delivering reliable, high-performance engineering services across the estate. You will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring that all critical systems operate safely, efficiently, and without interruption.
You will work closely with the Shift Leader, OEM contractors, and fellow engineering team members to maintain uptime, support compliance, and promote a proactive safety culture.

You will work closely with the Shift Leader, OEM contractors, and fellow engineering team members to maintain uptime, support compliance, and promote a proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Operations
- Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) using the Planon IWMS platform.
- Respond to reactive maintenance tasks promptly, prioritising safety, compliance, and operational continuity.
- Conduct daily and periodic inspections of plant and systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose engineering faults, prioritise work, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, public health, fire safety, and other essential building systems.
- Support statutory inspections, compliance testing, and life safety monitoring.
- Act as an Authorised Person (AP) for low-voltage electrical and/or mechanical systems in accordance with Safe Systems of Work.
- Provide accurate technical updates and input for handovers, reports, and operational documentation.
- Work collaboratively with OEM contractors during planned and emergency maintenance.
- Promote a strong Health & Safety culture, acting as a site safety ambassador.
- Ensure service delivery standards and compliance requirements are consistently met or exceeded.
- Participate in weekly on-call rota, incident response, and resilience exercises.
- Complete mandatory training, competency assessments, and annual performance objectives.
- City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- IOSH Managing Safely (or willingness to achieve).
- Eligibility for Security Check (SC) clearance (sponsored by the organisation).
- Experience using IWMS platforms (preferably Planon) and HMI handheld devices.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, BMS, electrical, public health, and life safety systems.
- Previous experience operating as an Authorised Person (AP) for LV and/or HV systems.
- Familiarity with formal Safe Systems of Work and statutory compliance obligations.
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound judgement and decision-making aligned with established procedures.

- High standards of workmanship, accuracy, and attention to detail.
