Purpose of the Role Are you ready to lead the safe operation of critical electrical infrastructure? As Shift Leader HV AP / HV SAP, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of all high-voltage electrical activities. Acting as the duty Authorised Person, you will control isolations, oversee work programmes, and manage contractors within a highly regulated, mission-critical environment.
This role is ideally suited to an experienced electrical professional with strong leadership capability, exceptional safety awareness, and a meticulous approach to planning and execution.

Your Mission As Shift Leader HV AP / HV SAP, your mission is to protect system resilience and business continuity by ensuring all electrical works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with statutory and organisational requirements. You will oversee project activities, monitor installations and removals, and provide expert technical guidance to the client, ensuring minimal risk and maximum operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Oversight: Monitor project works to ensure full compliance with health & safety policies, statutory requirements, and industry standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in programme, project, and coordination meetings to support effective planning and delivery.
- System Installation & Removal: Oversee system installations and decommissions, providing accurate technical data and operational insight.
- Safe Systems of Work: Enforce the use of approved Safe Systems of Work for all electrical and project activities.
- Risk Management: Review and authorise Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure risks are adequately controlled.
- Client Advisory: Provide informed technical advice to clients on decisions that may impact critical operations.
- Operational Integration: Ensure project works integrate seamlessly with business-as-usual (BAU) operations.
- Reporting: Produce clear, timely, and accurate reports in line with operational and project requirements.
- Issue Escalation: Identify, manage, and escalate critical risks or issues to the Project Integration Technical Manager.
- Shutdown Management: Support the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical shutdowns to minimise operational impact.
- Operate strictly within established operational, technical, and management frameworks.
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with internal teams, contractors, and clients.
- Champion health & safety standards and ensure full compliance across all activities.
- Apply advanced technical expertise to optimise system performance and operational resilience.
- Drive efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement through effective leadership.
- Strong educational background with recognised technical qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Comprehensive health and safety training.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable).
- High Voltage Authorisation (HV AP / HV SAP) (desirable or essential, depending on site requirements).
- Proven experience working within critical environments supporting life-safety and business-critical infrastructure.
- Demonstrable experience operating as an Authorised Person for electrical systems.
- In-depth technical knowledge of building services, including:
- UPS systems and transfer switches
- PLC systems
- Critical cooling and refrigeration systems
- Water treatment systems
- HV/LV electrical infrastructure
- Strong practical application of health & safety systems within live operational environments.
