I'm currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technical Services Manager to lead up a technical team at large estate in Newcastle. You will be in charge of technical compliance and KPI's across the estate and delivering a strong service to the customer in planned and reactive maintenance, as well as lifecycle works.
The role is working in a healthcare environment so an in-depth knowledge of HTMs would be ideal. You will audit the sites and ensure all AP paperwork is in order and you will conduct training courses with mechanical engineers to upskill them in this area as required. You will work alongside an Electrical Technical Manager and a Contract Performance Manager as part of the senior team reporting into the Account Manager of the site.

Duties of the role
- Management of a team of Supervisors who in turn will manage a 24/7 engineering provision, providing strategic staff guidance and management.
- Owning and managing the engineering processes on site, ensuring a high level of service and that works re done in line with KPI's and SLA's.
- Completing mechanical site audits.
- Working with on site engineering teams to create site improvement plans.
- Carrying out training and assessments with the on-site engineers to upskill them in HTM specific requirements such as steam, ventilation, and medical gas.
- Acting mechanical expert, able to help out in skilled situations
- Acting as an AP in ventilation
- Leading any accident investigations where mechanical equipment has been involved.
- Actively engaging in new opportunities to expand your own skill set and knowledge, keeping up to date with changes and advances in legislationStrategic management of the team, driving team culture as well as improvements of results and advancement of the estates.
- Working closely with HTM's to understand the depths of the contract and ensure technical compliance on the site-specific kit (including HV/LV, UPS, CHP, water, pressure systems, heating, chilling and refrigeration).
- Attend high level meetings within the business and with the client.
- Working alongside the SHEQ Manager to make sure all technical and hard services actions are completed in line H+S guidelines
- Working towards net zero targets, actively identifying opportunities to operate in a more energy efficient manner to reduce the carbon footprints of the Estate.
- Working alongside the contract performance lead to make sure KPI reporting is accurate and in line with the contract.
The ideal applicant will have the following skills and experience:
- Mechanical background and qualifications
- Experience working in a healthcare environment with a strong knowledge of HTM's is preferred but can be taught.
- HNC or HND in a mechanical discipline is required in the absence of healthcare experience.
- PFI experience highly advantageous or experience of complex contracts/KPI's
- Good people management skills
- Strong strategic skills
