Our customer are one of the largest data centre owner-operators globally, with facilities across the Americas, Europe and Asia. They have a current vacancy for an M&E shift engineer to joing their team at one of their UK sites based in Crawley, West Sussex. The engineering team provide planned and reactive maintenance to electrical, mechanical and general building services on site. Working on a 24/7 "continental" shift pattern, covering days and nights, the salary for this position is £42,000 basic, while the company also provide a 10% annual bonus, as well as guaranteed OT in the form of shift cover for holidays. There is also a company pension scheme, as well as private healthcare and a healthy training budget.
Candidates will be electrically or mechanical qualified, ideally through a full apprenticeship, and ideally with existing building services experience working within a critical environment such as a data centre/bank/hospital, etc. Along with core qualifications, additional training such as 18th edition, F-gas, 2391, etc will all be beneficial and particular working knowledge should include;
Electrical Fault-Finding, Single & Three Phase Power, Emergency Lighting, Fire Alarms, BMS Operation, Motors, Pumps, Air Handling & Fan Coil Units, Diesel Generators, UPS Systems, LV & HV Distriubtion, 1st line Chiller & Boiler faults, Water Treatment, etc.
This is a rare opportunity to work both "client-side", as opposed to for a 3rd party maintenance contractor, and also working outside of London. It will suit an enthusiastic and technically minded engineer interested in the stability and better benefits on offer for working directly for the data centre operator. With the size of the company, there are opportunities for advancement both on site, as well as with the central UK and overseas.
