Property and Estates Manager
Location: Highland Wildlife park
The role
To manage the day-to-day operations of the Property and estates function of the Highland Wildlife Park including the maintenance of all buildings, facilities, vehicles, and infrastructure.
Support the management (in conjunction with the wider project team) the construction phase of the Wildlife Discovery Centre.
This is a two-year fixed term role where the working hours are 37.5 hours per week.
Some of the things you’ll do:
- Supervise, following good management practice, manage resources within agreed limits and assist in the construction of the Scottish Wildlife Discovery Centre, managing a small team to complete hard landscaping and other building maintenance across the site.
- Under the general direction of the Head of Property and Estates, and in close collaboration with the Projects and Sustainability Manager, working with minimum supervision, undertake, with regards to your area of experience, the construction and maintenance of new buildings, facilities and infrastructure for the Highland Wildlife park.
- Input to the budget process and recommend cost-effective opportunities to minimise the impact of the Society’s operations on the environment.
- Contribute to and manage database of planned/anticipated maintenance and costing which is built into the site refurbishment lifecycle and fed into wider site strategy and budgets.
- Ensure all transport, generators, hand tools and all dedicated plant and equipment under your control is maintained to relevant legislation and best practice, and relevant documentation is maintained to the required standards at all times. This may include collection and disposal of refuse and waste materials within the park.
What we’re looking for:
- HNC in construction or Civil Engineering Management, or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Up to date completion of Site Safety Managers Training Scheme (SSMTS) or equivalent
- Working knowledge and understanding of CDM 2015 regulations
- Ability to work to parameters of Building Regulations, e.g. understanding of basic principles of structural design, ability to work to design drawings??
- Significant practical experience in the construction and maintenance of buildings, fencing and infrastructure
- Experience of working to the parameters of building and H&S regulations.
