An exciting new opportunity has arisen to work for a healthcare organisation as an Estate Officer – Maintenance Technician on an interim basis for 3 – 6 months working in London.

This is a band 5 post, and the hourly rate will be: £24.82

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical advice and support to contractors appointed on major capital projects and minor upgrade works;
  • Work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment;
  • Actively participate in the operation of the Trust labour management systems, completing all records required (including completion of all job dockets and time records);
  • Liaise with manufacturers regarding plant or equipment failures and to arrange the supply of goods and services under maintenance contract and /or direct contract;
  • Undertake faultfinding on complex critical systems and equipment. Using ‘cause and effect analysis’ and detailed examination to gain a solution;
  • Understand the complete working of the mechanical, electrical and electronic systems in the Trust buildings;
  • Service, test, diagnose, repair and calibrate mechanical, electrical and electronic installations, plant and equipment, deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others;
  • Efficiently maintain the heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, standby electricity generating systems and boiler house plant throughout the Trust;
  • To undertake and report on technical investigations relating to HVAC systems, standby electricity generating systems and boiler house plant;
  • Operation and control of fire detection/alarm systems, including safe isolation and reinstatement to facilitate new works.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Recognised and registered CITB or EITB apprenticeship or other approved training of at least 3 years duration acceptable to the employing Authority following local consultation with the relevant craft unions;
  • National Certificate (BTec) in Engineering, or National Certificate (BTec) in Building and Engineering Services (plumbing) or SCOTVEC 050 Mechanical and Production Engineering or SCOTVEC 053 Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Ordinary National Certificate (ONC) in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering;
  • 2 years relevant experience having demonstrated total commitment to versatility and flexibility within the NHS and Healthcare settings;
  • 2 years responsible electrical engineering experience.
