The role: Safety Manager

Salary: up to £60,000
A leading facilities management provider is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support a high-profile, transport-led contract operating within a rail environment.
This role requires someone who understands the pace, terminology and compliance expectations of rail-related operations. You will play a key role in embedding a strong safety culture across cleaning and soft services delivery, ensuring compliance, consistency and continuous improvement.
The Role
- Lead health & safety strategy across a major rail-associated contract
- Ensure full compliance with ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 standards
- Act as the subject matter expert for safety within a live operational rail environment
- Conduct audits, inspections and risk assessments across multiple sites
- Support operational teams in safe delivery of services within regulated environments
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Engage with client stakeholders, ensuring alignment with safety expectations and standards
- Deliver training, toolbox talks and ongoing safety briefings
- Drive continuous improvement in safety performance and reporting
About You
- Proven experience in a Safety Manager or senior HSEQ role within facilities management, cleaning or soft services
- Essential exposure to rail environments or contracts interfacing with rail (e.g. stations, depots, transport hubs)
- Strong understanding of rail safety culture, processes and terminology
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 systems and compliance
- NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent)
- Confident communicator, able to influence operational teams and senior stakeholders
- Proactive, detail-oriented and solutions-focused
- Comfortable working across multiple sites in a fast-paced, operational setting
Experience & Skills
- Experience managing safety within high-footfall, public-facing environments
- Strong audit, reporting and compliance management capability
- Ability to build relationships with both internal teams and external clients
- Experience driving behavioural safety and cultural change initiatives
