We are seeking an experienced Data Centre Supervisor to join a growing Critical Facilities & Data Centre Engineering team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a Lead Engineer, Shift Leader, Engineering Supervisor, or Critical Facilities Engineer looking to progress within the rapidly expanding data centre and mission-critical infrastructure sector.
This role combines hands-on Electrical & Mechanical (M&E) expertise with leadership responsibility in a 24/7 high-availability environment. You will play a key role in maintaining uptime, resilience, compliance, and operational excellence across critical infrastructure systems.
Key Responsibilities
Critical Facilities Operations & Maintenance
Operate, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems within a live data centre environment
Carry out HV/LV switching operations, isolations, and safe systems of work
Supervise Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities
Coordinate fault-finding, repairs, and corrective maintenance with engineers and specialist subcontractors
Support Quality Assurance (QA) and technical compliance processes
Ensure maximum uptime and operational reliability across all critical infrastructure systems
Documentation, Compliance & Change Management
Prepare, review, and implement:
SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
MOPs (Method of Procedure)
EOPs (Emergency Operating Procedures)
Permits to Work (PTW)
Risk Assessments and Change Control documentation
Additional responsibilities include:
Ensuring contractors comply with RAMS, site procedures, and Health & Safety standards
Reviewing and signing off contractor works while escalating risks where required
Maintaining accurate maintenance records, technical documentation, and asset registers using CAFM/CMMS systems
Managing critical spares, inventory, and engineering stock levels
Team Leadership & Engineering Management
Lead day-to-day engineering operations across shift and day teams
Coordinate staffing, holiday planning, sickness cover, and engineering resource allocation
Mentor and develop engineers, technicians, and apprentices
Deliver toolbox talks, technical briefings, and performance reviews
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental (QHSE)
Champion Health & Safety and QHSE compliance across all site operations
Lead hazard reporting, near-miss investigations, and safety initiatives
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, company policies, and safe systems of work
Support a zero-incident, safety-first culture within a mission-critical environment
Lead by example in operational discipline and engineering best practice
Skills & Experience Required Essential
Proven experience within a Data Centre, Critical Facilities, Mission-Critical, or Facilities Management supervisory role
HNC/HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a recognised engineering apprenticeship
18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification
Strong technical knowledge of:
Electrical systems (HV/LV)
Mechanical systems and HVAC infrastructure
UPS systems, generators, cooling systems, and critical power infrastructure
High-availability or mission-critical environments
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Experience using CAFM/CMMS systems and engineering documentation processes
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a live 24/7 operational environment
Desirable
Previous experience working within data centres or other critical environments
HV Authorised Person (AP) status, or working towards certification
Experience managing contractors and multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Knowledge of compliance frameworks, permit systems, and change management processes
