The Role As Lead Shift Engineer, you will oversee both planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring plant and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring:
- Strong technical expertise
- Clear communication
- The ability to foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture
- Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) across all mechanical and electrical plant per site schedules and asset registers
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Diagnose and rectify plant faults to maintain operational performance
- Complete statutory maintenance in line with SFG20 requirements
- Manage critical spares stock, preparing parts lists and timelines for remedial works
- Issue and control Permits to Work for internal teams and subcontractors
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all maintenance and breakdown activities
- Keep plant rooms safe, clean, and compliant
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, SLAs, KPIs, and SHEQ standards
- Maintain strong relationships with colleagues, subcontractors, and client representatives
- Present a professional, customer-focused approach at all times
- Lead, mentor, and support engineering team members
- Electrical or Mechanical Apprenticeship
- Proven Facilities Management experience with a strong operational track record
- HNC / HND / Foundation Degree
- BOAS / BG01
- City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent)
- IET 17th Edition
- City & Guilds 2391 / 2394 / 2395 (Testing & Inspection) or relevant HVAC qualification
- Strong knowledge of building services and statutory compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAFM systems
- Calm, methodical approach under pressure
