The Opportunity We are seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical Engineer to join a high-performing team operating within a mission-critical environment.
This is a hands-on role offering exposure to electrical, mechanical, and building services systems, where you will deliver both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance. You will play a key role in maintaining system reliability, safety, and operational resilience, working closely with the Shift Leader to protect critical infrastructure.
Role Overview As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, fault diagnosis, and optimisation of critical plant and equipment. You will support uptime and performance across a technically demanding environment, ensuring all activities are delivered in line with industry standards and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Engineering Operations

Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Engineering Operations
- Deliver PPM, reactive, and emergency maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems
- Monitor and maintain plant systems via Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Conduct routine inspections and scheduled maintenance to high engineering standards
- Diagnose and repair faults across electrical and mechanical plant, controls, and equipment
- Respond to Helpdesk requests and resolve issues across HVAC, pumps, valves, and pipework
- Support incident response and fault management within a critical environment
- Maintain and fault-find on systems including:
- Air Handling Units (AHUs)
- Air conditioning and HVAC systems
- Heating, ventilation, and cold-water systems
- Water treatment systems (L8 compliance)
- UPS systems and standby generators
- Monitor alarms and escalate issues through BMS platforms
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance strategies and site performance
- Maintain accurate records using CAFM / CMMS systems
- Ensure compliance with SFG20 maintenance standards (or equivalent)
- Follow Safe Systems of Work, including Permit to Work (PTW) and RAMS
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Support and mentor colleagues on SOPs and EOPs
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer within building services, industrial, or mission-critical environments
- Strong understanding of PPM schedules (SFG20 or equivalent)
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Strong background in M&E operations within critical environments
- HV and LV Authorised Person (AP) status
- Experience working within secure or high-availability environments
- Knowledge of HV systems, generators, and control systems
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- Completed Electrical Apprenticeship / NVQ Level 3
- IOSH Working Safely / Managing Safely
- L8 Water Hygiene Training
- Knowledge of Permit to Work (PTW) systems and RAMS
- Strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving abilities
- Proactive, adaptable, and results-driven mindset
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
- Customer-focused with good commercial awareness
- Ability to remain calm under pressure in critical environments
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Competent in IT systems, CAFM platforms, and technical reporting
- Work within a highly technical, mission-critical environment
- Exposure to complex electrical and building services infrastructure
