This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and motivated engineer who thrives in demanding environments, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical services across complex sites.
The Role As Lead Shift Engineer, you will oversee both planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring plant and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring:

Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Operations
  • Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) across all mechanical and electrical plant per site schedules and asset registers
  • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Diagnose and rectify plant faults to maintain operational performance
  • Complete statutory maintenance in line with SFG20 requirements
  • Manage critical spares stock, preparing parts lists and timelines for remedial works
  • Issue and control Permits to Work for internal teams and subcontractors
Documentation & Compliance
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all maintenance and breakdown activities
  • Keep plant rooms safe, clean, and compliant
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, SLAs, KPIs, and SHEQ standards
Team & Client Management
  • Maintain strong relationships with colleagues, subcontractors, and client representatives
  • Present a professional, customer-focused approach at all times
  • Lead, mentor, and support engineering team members
Qualifications & Experience Essential
  • Electrical or Mechanical Apprenticeship
  • Proven Facilities Management experience with a strong operational track record
Desirable
  • HNC / HND / Foundation Degree
  • BOAS / BG01
  • City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent)
  • IET 17th Edition
  • City & Guilds 2391 / 2394 / 2395 (Testing & Inspection) or relevant HVAC qualification
Technical & Professional Skills
  • Strong knowledge of building services and statutory compliance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAFM systems
  • Calm, methodical approach under pressure
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or supporting engineering teams
