Overview An excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineer / Maintenance Engineer to join a growing team within the data centre and critical infrastructure sector—one of the UK’s most secure and fast-growing industries.

This role is ideal for engineers looking to build a long-term career in mission-critical environments, working on high-value electrical systems where uptime and reliability are essential.

You’ll receive structured training, clear career progression, and exposure to advanced electrical and critical power systems.

The Role As a Data Centre Engineer / Critical Site Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting critical electrical infrastructure within a live data centre environment.

This includes working on:
  • UPS systems (Uninterruptible Power Supply)
  • Standby generators
  • LV/HV electrical distribution systems
  • Switchgear and control systems
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
You’ll work in a safety-critical, high-performance environment, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
  • Maintain and fault-find on critical electrical systems
  • Complete technical reports and ensure accurate documentation
  • Use CMMS systems for job tracking and compliance
  • Support 24/7 operations, including participation in an on-call rota
  • Respond to and escalate critical incidents effectively
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure safe working practices
  • Assist with remedial works, upgrades, and small projects
  • Maintain compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ) standards
  • Attend training, team meetings, and technical briefings
Requirements Essential
  • Level 2 & Level 3 Electrical Qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
  • Experience in electrical maintenance (facilities, building services, or industrial environments)
  • Strong understanding of fault finding and PPMs
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
  • Experience in data centres or critical environments
  • HVAP / LVAP Authorisation
  • Knowledge of UPS systems, generators, and critical power infrastructure
