We are recruiting an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the engineering and building services function at a flagship retail and leisure destination in West London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, people-focused engineering leader to take ownership of a high-profile site, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, and building systems operate safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards — supporting an exceptional guest and retailer experience.
The Role
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will lead the onsite engineering team and take full responsibility for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across the centre.
This is a hands-on leadership role within a live retail environment, requiring strong technical expertise, compliance knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, develop, and manage the onsite Maintenance Team
Oversee delivery of PPM schedules and reactive works
Ensure full statutory compliance (LOLER, PUWER, electrical safety, water hygiene, etc.)
Manage specialist contractors and permit-to-work systems
Maintain asset registers, statutory certification, and compliance documentation
Monitor M&E and building fabric performance, identifying risks and investment needs
Ensure accurate CMMS reporting and job closure
Conduct audits and inspections across plant rooms and public areas
Manage engineering budgets and procurement activities
Support emergency response and out-of-hours engineering incidents
Promote a proactive Health & Safety culture
Work collaboratively with operations, security, cleaning, guest services, and centre management
Support sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives
About You
We are seeking a confident engineering leader with experience in retail, commercial, or leisure environments.
You will bring:
Proven experience managing maintenance teams
Strong technical knowledge of M&E services (HVAC, water systems, controls)
Solid understanding of statutory compliance and safe systems of work
Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
Strong organisational and problem-solving ability
Experience using CMMS and digital reporting systems
A customer-focused mindset suited to a live public environment
Desirable
IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH
BMS experience
Exposure to energy or sustainability initiatives
Multi-service FM contractor management experience
Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent)
IPAF / PASMA
What’s on Offer
24/7 GP access for you and your immediate family
Mental health and life-event counselling support
Get Fit programme
Financial and legal advice services
Cycle to Work scheme
Retail discounts and cashback app
Uniform, PPE, and equipment provided
If you’re a driven Maintenance Manager looking to take ownership of a prestigious West London site, we’d love to hear from you.
