Electrical Engineer – Critical Systems
Your Mission
Ensure system resilience and business continuity by delivering electrical works safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with statutory and organisational requirements. You will oversee project activity, manage system installations and decommissions, and provide expert technical guidance to clients—minimising risk while maximising operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Operational Oversight
Monitor electrical project works to ensure compliance with health & safety policies, statutory requirements, and industry standards
Ensure project activities integrate seamlessly with business-as-usual (BAU) operations
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
Participate in programme, project, and coordination meetings to support effective planning and delivery
Provide informed technical advice to clients on decisions impacting critical operations
Safe Systems & Risk Management
Enforce approved Safe Systems of Work across all electrical and project activities
Review, authorise, and manage Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Identify, manage, and escalate critical risks or issues to the Project Integration Technical Manager
Technical & Shutdown Management
Oversee system installations and decommissions, ensuring accurate technical data and operational readiness
Support the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical shutdowns to minimise operational impact
Reporting & Governance
Produce clear, accurate, and timely operational and project reports
Maintain strict adherence to operational, technical, and management governance frameworks
Accountabilities
Champion health, safety, and compliance across all activities
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal teams, contractors, and clients
Apply advanced technical expertise to optimise system performance and operational resilience
Drive efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement through effective leadership
Candidate Requirements
Education & Qualifications
Recognised technical qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Comprehensive Health & Safety training
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable)
HV Authorisation (HV AP / HV SAP) – essential or desirable depending on site
Experience & Technical Expertise
Proven experience working within critical environments supporting life-safety and business-critical infrastructure
Experience operating as an Authorised Person for electrical systems
Strong technical knowledge of building services and critical infrastructure, including:
UPS systems and static transfer switches
PLC systems
Critical cooling and refrigeration systems
Water treatment systems
HV/LV electrical infrastructure
Demonstrated ability to apply health & safety systems effectively within live operational environments
