Electrical Engineer – Estates Maintenance Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer ready to take the next step in your career? - Provide engineering support across multiple sites, resolving faults and offering technical expertise to FM teams
- Deliver PPM, reactive maintenance, and self-delivered works to a high professional standard
- Respond to emergency situations and participate in the engineering call-out rota
- Ensure all works are carried out in line with Safe Systems of Work and health & safety regulations
- Supervise contractors, ensuring compliance with inductions and site requirements
- Act as a Safety Champion, proactively identifying and addressing H&S issues
- Coordinate planned system shutdowns safely and efficiently
- Maintain plant and equipment to ensure operational reliability and cost-effectiveness
- Keep accurate documentation to meet legal, statutory, and client requirements
- Monitor stock levels of consumables and critical electrical spares
- Plan and manage workloads across multiple buildings, balancing PPM and reactive tasks
- Raise material requests, obtain quotations, and manage associated documentation
- Manage work orders via CAFM systems, ensuring accurate and timely completion
- Stay up to date with UK electrical standards and regulations, including the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Expand knowledge of M&E systems across multiple sites
- Review O&M manuals for new systems and recommend PPM schedule improvements
- Participate in relevant training, including Low Voltage Authorised Person (LV AP) duties
- Work closely with supervisors, management, and colleagues to deliver a high-quality service
- Liaise with subcontractors to obtain specifications, quotations, and material pricing
- Promote teamwork, knowledge sharing, and proactive problem-solving
- City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 or NVQ Level 2–3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
- 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- Knowledge of SFG20 Maintenance Specification
- Relevant building maintenance training (e.g. First Aid, MEWP, PASMA, Water Treatment, LMS, BMS)
- Health & Safety training
- Membership of a professional engineering body (desirable)
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems within building maintenance environments
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary technical teams across complex facilities
- Familiarity with asset management systems, CAFM platforms, and mobile/PDA technology
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with strong IT capability (MS Office, CAFM systems)
- Clear, confident communication with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Proactive, customer-focused, and adaptable approach
- Strong awareness of commercial and operational priorities within facilities management
