We are currently recruiting for a Finance Business Partner to be home based with occasional travel in the North. Working for a well established FM business, the Finance Business Partner will oversee the reporting and financial collation for 30+ contracts across the North (circa £50m P+L), working with the Contracts Managers to produce reliable and accurate financial reporting data to present to the board.

A key part of the data analysis here will be to recommend improvements to operations, really drilling down into the detail and working with the teams to drive improvements and create cost savings. This is a fantastic opportunity for a finance specialist who enjoys detailed analysis but also is keen to integrate their work into the wider business, improving procedure and working closely with the operational teams.

Duties of the role include:


  • Supporting the Finance Director in the monthly preparation, production and reporting of the financial performance of the company’s contracts – ensuring compliance with financial procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Support the contract teams in their understanding of their contract’s financial performance & preparation of their annual budgets.
  • Liaising with the Financial Controller to ensure that the accounting information is completed / processed accurately and within agreed.
  • Prepare analysis and commentary of contract performance.
  • Investigate and resolve issues, ensuring variances are investigated and accounted for.
  • Sound understanding of finance related areas of project and FM agreements for each contract.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end management accounts, financial accounts, and audit file.
  • Liaise with and provide information to external auditors.
  •  Identification and implementation of business process improvements.
  • Ensure all data input is completed accurately and assume responsibility for ensuring the business is operating with effective internal controls.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:


  • Experience with the FM sector is highly desirable.
  • Qualified accountant would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Management Accounts experience including cash management, monthly reports, budgets and year end are necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work and ingrate with different operational departments to drive improvement.
  • Someone who is a switched-on thinker, passionate about improvement and able to challenge the status quo.
  • Excellent Excel experience (Macros, Pivots) is desirable.
  • Experience of identifying and delivering business process improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills and be comfortable with wide range of analytical techniques for assessing performance.
  • Sound and relevant commercial awareness.
  • Ability and aptitude to challenge work practices and to seek explanations.
