In-House Shift Engineer
City of London
£50-52,000 Salary
12 hour "Days-Only" Rotating Pattern
Shift Allowance
Annual Bonus
Healthcare & Dental Plan
Pension Scheme
Our client are a global property and real estate organisation, with a portfolio of iconic mixed-use commercial buildings in the UK, with a new requirement at one of their highest-profile buildings. Based in the City of London, this building is owned by them and which they self-deliver the M&E and Facilities Management services, and home to a number of corporate tenants (financial service, legal, etc). Working on a 12 hour 4 on/4 off "days-only pattern", the role combines the time off that shift work provides while preventing overnight shifts, making it the best of both worlds. The client seek a technically minded individual to join their existing team, comprising days, days-only and full 24/7 shift engineer, making it a very robust team which deliver planned and reactive maintenance to both landlord and tenant areas. The building is less than 5 years old, offering a different proposition to the majority of older commercial sites London has to offer.
Guideline salary for this position is highly competitive (£50-52k basic), while offering some of the best benefits within the UK's built environment. These include a bonus and shift allowance (circa £4.5k additional remuneration), along with full healthcare and pension plans, annual training allowance per engineer. With overtime opportunities added, this pushes the annual OTE for the role into the region of £60-65k.
With a fantastic package, the client seeks strong multi-skilled engineers with a great work ethic. Candidates must be fully qualified in either electrical or mechanical engineering (ideally through a full apprenticeship), with at least five years of relevant experience within a similar M&E / building services maintenance role within a corporate environment for example a Bank / Global Firms HQ, etc. Along with core qualifications, a current or previous HV / LV AP status is essential. Other desireable qualifications include L8, F-Gas, 2391, IOSH/NEBOSH, etc.
Particular working knowledge should extend to: Single & Three Phase Power, Emergency Lighting, Fire Alarms, Pumps & Motors, Air Handling & Fan Coil Units, BMS Operation, Water Treatment (Taps, Cooling Towers), Pressurisation Units, VRV/VRFs, Diesel Generators, UPS Systems, HV / LV Distribution (AP Status, Switching & Site Shutdowns, Permits), VRV/VRFs, 1st line Chiller & Boiler Faults, etc.
This is a rare and lucrative opportunity to work in-house, close to a major London transport hub, and with one of the best remunderation and benefits package in the London Building Services market. As such it will suit an enthusiastic, driven and technically minded individual looking to develop their career. Perhaps someone working in a similar role for an M&E service provider looking for added job security and work life balance, or looking to come off nights yet maintain the shift lifestyle.
