The Role: Quantity Surveyor / Client-Side Cost Manager

Location: CORNWALL
Salary: DOE – (Day Rate or PAYE are options)
Fixed Term Contract min 6 months
My client is an investment and development group who are currently delivering mixed schemes in the South West. To support their current development, we are looking for a qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join them.
This role is very much focused on cost control for builds that include homes, hotels and modular construction. The current scheme is expected to cost around £40M and the FTC could run for 6, 12 or 24 months.
The ideal candidate will be within easy reach of Bude (flexible), and any Project Management experience would be a huge bonus.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost reports and management reports through project cycle
- Advise the Development Director of any potential disputes arising between company and the Sub-contractors.
- Issue withholding and payment notices within the correct time scales.
- Respond to all sub-contractor’s correspondence where required.
- Work closely with the relevant contracts manager for both progress and commercial matters.
- Updating information on progress of projects and passing to the Development Director as required.
- Monitoring performance of external QS
- Working to deadlines
- Ensure continuous communication with other team members to review contract progress and address immediately associated issues.
- Attending site weekly (or as required) to review issues including providing solutions and advice to ensure successful project completion.
- Ensuring the workforce employed on site are treated fairly and communication is filtered through to them.
- Promote excellent H&S standards, always.
