Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the catering team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Set performance expectations and mentor team members to achieve excellence in their roles.
- Menu Planning: Collaborate with nutritionists and healthcare professionals to develop well-balanced and nutritious menus that meet the dietary needs of patients. Ensure a variety of options for different dietary requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain strict quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of food preparation, presentation, and service. Conduct regular inspections and audits to guarantee compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the catering budget, controlling costs without compromising on food quality. Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
- Vendor Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with food suppliers and vendors. Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and pricing.
- Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for catering staff. Stay informed about industry trends and innovations.
- Customer Satisfaction: Monitor and analyze feedback from patients, visitors, and staff to continuously improve the catering services. Implement changes and improvements based on customer preferences and feedback.
Person Specification
- Has a strong standard of both literacy and numeracy skills
- They possess an intermediate knowledge level of all Microsoft office packages. Fully competent in the use of PCs and other types of technology
- Has developed excellent written, verbal communication and negotiation skills to support them in their role.
- Fully capable of understanding and maintaining the confidentiality across the site and respecting the needs of all stakeholders.
- Strong working knowledge of food safety, preferably certified, including full understanding of HACCP
- Works well under pressure to meet the challenging deadlines for both operational and people aspects of their roles.
- Strong creativity skills with an ability to think beyond their processes & procedures with a passion for driving high standards, within a retail environment.
- Can effectively plan and manage own workloads, however, understands when to ask for support when needed.
- A team player with the ability to lead by example through operational excellence, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact at all levels.
- Demonstrates forward thinking/planning, with a positive 'can do' attitude and can flex their style to meet the needs of the business
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage costs and ensure budgets are met
- Represents Mitie and the client always in a professional, courteous, and confident manner
