We are currently recruiting an Assistant Electrical Engineering Manager on a large site based FM contract in Durham. A great opportunity for an experienced working supervisor to step up off the tools, you’ll be managing a team of engineers (including a supervisor) and subcontractors, ensuring all KPI’s and SLA’s are met across the contract. Reporting into the Electrical Engineering Manager, this role has great opportunities for career progression and further technical training.

Duties of the role include:


  • Managing a team of 6 Electricians and a Supervisor.
  • Ensuring the team have regular appraisals and relevant training/upskilling opportunities.
  • Providing man management and technical assistance to the engineers, acting as a high-level electrical expert.
  • Managing all FM compliance, ensuring all ppm and reactive works are completed in line with KPI’s and SLA’s on the contract.
  • Managing external subcontractors on site for project works and specialist maintenance works (such as BMS).
  • Managing remedial works and RAMS.
  • Pricing and running small electrical projects and minor works.
  • Ensuring electrical compliance on site, especially around electrical testing, PAT and emergency lights.
  • Managing electrical health and safety for the site including carrying risk assessments and making sure you and the team are working within company policy and technical legislation across the kit.
  • Acting as an AP for HV and LV (and ideally Medical Gas) – if you don’t hold these tickets the company are happy to pay for your training and qualification in this area as part of your development.
  • Taking part in the managerial on-call rota (being available by phone) at a rate of £420 per week standby allowance (1 week in 8).
  • Working closely with the Electrical Manager to deliver a high standard of maintenance across the department, learning from them an getting the skills and experience needed to move forward into an Electrical Manager/Contracts Manager role.

The ideal applicant will have the following skills and experience:


  • Experience managing an engineering team.
  • Experience delivering electrical compliance against stringent KPI’s and SLA’s.
  • Knowledge of HV, LV and UPS.
  • Experience with BMS and as an AP are advantageous but not essential.
  • Able to be on call as needed and work an occasional Sunday morning to conduct a system re-set (paid at double time).
  • Time-served electrical engineer with relevant qualifications.
  • Enhanced DBS required for this role.
