Location: This role can be based from the DIO offices in Catterick, MOD Whittington or RAF Wyton
About Defence Infrastructure Organisation
DIO enables Defence people to live, work, train and deploy at home and overseas and we are proud to be the expert partner Defence needs for all their infrastructure requirements. As one of the largest landowners in the UK we manage assets worth £28bn, with an annual budget of £3.3bn. DIO employs approximately 4,500 staff from a very diverse range of professions, working across the world: in for example Germany, Cyprus, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Canada, Kenya & Belize. In the DIO, it is Regional Delivery that delivers Facilities Management services to customers across the estate. That includes routine repair or reactive maintenance, refurbishment and servicing to over 45,000 buildings in the UK and overseas: as well as catering, retail and leisure services. In addition, Regional Delivery provides a safe place to train across the UK and overseas training estates.
The role
The Head of Central Region is accountable for over 13,000 assets, multi-million FM contracts for hard and soft FM services and delivery of multi-million programmes of lifecycle replacement and new capital investment works, as well as keeping assets in a safe and compliant condition. In addition, the role will need to make the necessary changes to address new and increasing demands – new FM contracts which are bringing in a different contracting model for the estate; customers that are significantly increasing their infrastructure spend year on year; a drive for proactive asset management and low carbon solutions; and that MOD expectations are increasing that infrastructure needs to be reliable, compliant and fit for purpose. The post holder reports to the Regional Delivery Director and the Chief Operating Officer and is a member of the DIO Wider Leadership Team and the Regional Delivery Directors Executive Committee.
The Person
We are looking for an exceptional leader who has experience of managing substantial estates and facilities services, preferably in a complex environment. Having successfully led a multi-million-pound operational infrastructure contracts function, you will have a strong customer focus with a track record of building high performing teams and collaborating effectively with a range of senior stakeholders.
