We are looking for a IT Data Solutions Architect to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week on a hybrid basis. On offer is a salary banding of £68,000-£80,000 dependent upon skills and experience, company vehicle or allowance (£6,100) bonus (10%), and benefits package.

As a Data Solutions Architect, you will lead from the front in designing our Enterprise's Target Data Architecture that move us towards our goal of Digital Transformation for a growing business.

The Data Solution Architect will be responsible in defining solution strategy, designing, and overseeing implementation of complex IT solutions and turning business objectives into outcomes in support of the business strategy. You will lead strategic data architecture initiatives and contribute to the projects and programmes that are part of our Data portfolio which is aimed at driving Data Driven Capabilities.

You will lead design work across data modelling, data governance, data integration, data pipelines and visualisation. You will be expected to design solutions to be hosted in the cloud as well as on-prem for legacy implementations. You will be working with Platform and Data engineers and will be critical to the success of projects and improvement roadmaps.

 

What will you deliver:


  • Define principles and requirements for data architecture and ensure that all solutions adhere to them.
  • Own and drive incremental evolution of our enterprise data governance strategy.
  • Own enterprise data map including logical model, data lineage & transmission detail.
  • Creating technical documentation: Create technical documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and implementation plans that describes how proposed technology solution is to be implemented.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders: Work closely with stakeholders, including business leaders, other Domain Architects, Business Analysts and Project Managers, to ensure that the solution meets the needs of the business.
  • Responsible for cataloguing, developing, coordinating, communicating, maintaining, and applying architecture models and representations within Enterprise Architecture Framework.
  • Manage engagement with suppliers when requesting information or proposals on solution requirements to support strategic deliveries and technology selection.
  • Collaborate closely with members of the Architecture practice and other Domain Architects to ensure Solution Architecture approach and options are reviewed and approved.
  • Participate in different Architecture and Governance Forums to ensure reviews are conducted for all architecture and design activities.
  • Being accountable for the delivery of high-quality architectural artefacts which clearly explain the technical strategy and decisions behind it.
  • Provide advice and support in performance tuning, troubleshooting, cost optimization and other implementation and operational challenges.
  • Keep up to date with the evolving demands of a modern data platform architecture including structured and unstructured data, batch and streaming flows, and machine learning data needs.
  • Drive the rationalisation of the Data environments to standardise, streamline and simplify the landscape.
  • Be the focal point of the Data Solution Architecture and communication internally and outward communication to the group.

Who are we looking for:


  • Educated to Degree level and would be advantageous in a numerate (Mathematics, Engineering or Scientific) or Computer Science subject.
  • Demonstrable 3+ years' experience as an IT Data Architect with experience in designing and architecting enterprise-wide Data solutions for a global organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience of designing solutions using capabilities of at least one public cloud platform: AWS Azure, GCP.
  • Demonstrable experienced in logical and physical data modelling for both transactional and analytical systems.
  • Demonstrable practical experience of working with ETL tools.
  • Demonstrable experience in data pipelines using Python and able to define best practices and standards.
  • Experience with AWS data technologies such as S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, Athena, and Glue.
  • Understanding of BI tools such as Power BI, QuickSight, SAP Business Objects.
  •  Experience of working in an agile development environment.
  • Has strong technical acumen to identify trends and opportunities to develop roadmap that can support business transformation.
  • Good knowledge of data patterns and implementing solutions for on-premises and public cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Palantir Foundry.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of frameworks and methodologies such as TOGAF, Zachman and ArchiMate and can demonstrate its value for the enterprise.
  • Experience working within government, regulated industries, defence or security including impact of heightened information and cyber security requirements to meet the standard set by frameworks such as ISO27001, CE and CE+.
  • Experience of CI/CD tooling.
