The Role: Chief Engineer

This role will be an absolute career highlight for a very lucky, skilled and capable candidate.
I am looking for a Chief Engineer who is very familiar with high-end openings. This stunning development is set in 60 acres and is home to a number of unique accommodations, restaurants, bars and incredible spa. This is not just a hotel, it is a luxury estate, offering members and guests the very best in service and surroundings.
What you will do:
The Chief Engineer will join before the opening, which is set for Spring 2023, so you have the chance to oversee the final commissioning for a number of technical installations and be involved in recruiting members of your team.
From there the primary function is to provide leadership, management, budget and operational control for the Engineering department. Leading a team of 10+, you will be directing, coordinating, and performing routine preventative and emergency interior and exterior maintenance and repairs to the buildings and grounds. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for all MEP across all areas of the property and manage the maintenance and appearance of a fleet of vehicles.
It is imperative that the Chief Engineer always has guest experience at the forefront of their mind, upholding the highest standards of service and ensuring all team members do the same. You will be polished, flexible, responsive and address issues in a calm and professional manner at all times.
The key responsibilities:
- Analysis of Engineering maintenance contracts and awareness of new trends in the industry, making suggestions for improvements.
- Development and maintenance of all department control procedures and systems to maximise productivity and identify and reduce problem areas.
- Maintain the physical appearance and operational efficiency of the entire property and grounds including physical, mechanical, electrical, plumbing etc.
- Ensure that all property vehicles are maintained correctly and uphold their appearance.
- Ensure maintenance staff are wearing proper uniforms, PPE and uphold grooming and hygiene standards
- Work closely with the Safety and Security department to help oversee Health and Safety.
- Help to implement and ensure consistent use of all maintenance related systems.
- Participate in vendor sourcing, quality control, budget management and inventory purchasing for Engineering department.
- Overseeing creation and development of all training for your team and make sure all colleagues attend training.
- Creating a working environment in which colleagues can be themselves and are able to thrive.
- Taking responsibility for the end-to-end member and guest journey ensuring every member feels like they are in a hosted home.
- Having good communication skills and proficiently liaising with all departments on an ongoing basis retaining close and professional relationships.
- Being responsible for effective people practices including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, training, employee engagement, performance and experience.
