Quantity Surveyor

National Cover - Working from home.

Circa £50,000 + Vehicle, Pension, 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, Life Assurance and other benefits.

 

Role Purpose:

Responsibility for managing the costs on projects ensuring that the projects are completed within their projected budget/price.

Prepare estimates and costs of the work and when the project is in progress, keep track of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show expenditure, .

Prepare scoping documents, budgets, bills of quantities and other related documentation.

Active involvement in every stage of a project in respect of commercial tracking.

Main Duties:


  • Full accountability for all project related commercials
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, suppliers and internal business partners
  • Follow -up status of high priority works-in progress and ensure the system contact is fully update.
  • Assist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies to ensure their proposals will work
  • Prepare and analyse project costings for scopes/tenders, such as materials, quantities, labour and time
  • Prepare scoping documents
  • Support the Project Manager to allocate work to supply chain and oversee their work at all stages of the construction
  • Perform risk, value management and cost control during a project
  • Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance works arising following project work
  • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks
  • Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports
  • Value completed work, oversee bills and arrange payments
  • Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear reports in order to convey complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of people
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop relationships
  • Numerical and data analysis skills
  • A creative and innovative approach to problem solving
  • IT skills and the ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packages
  • Team work skills and the ability to motivate and lead those on site

Desired Skills & Qualifications:


  • Project management skills
  • Good commercial awareness
  • A practical, logical and methodical approach to work
  • Detailed knowledge of past and current building and construction legislation, technology, processes, materials, business and legal matters.
  • Undergraduate degree accredited by the Royal Institutin of Chartred Surveyors (RICS) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction subject, or a post graduate conversion course (Pg Dip or Masters) accredited by the Royal Instuitution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
