Quantity Surveyor - Up to £50,000
Our client is a multi award winning construction and integrated support services business with over 50 years' experience. Building for generations and working with select clients nationally, the company offers a holistic range of services; acquire, design, build, operate and maintain.
They are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join the Commercial Team.
The QS will be expected to take the lead from inception to completion, on multiple projects across trade packages and project works. The trade packages delivered are Joinery and doors, Passive fire protection, and M & E installations, up to the value of approximately £2m.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of tenders and quotations taking projects from feasibility & scoping stage through to completion through various gateways
- Effective commercial control of all subcontract packages including provision of timely and accurate documentation
- Careful administration of subcontractor accounts
- Responsible for keeping the Commercial Director informed of the progress of all subcontractor accounts through to their finalisation, including the release of retention
- Ensuring that payments / notices are issued in accordance with the subcontract and Construction Act and in particular, ensure any commercial threats to projects are identified swiftly and communicated to the Group Commercial Director
- Attending meetings (pre orders, design meetings, package review meetings) and ensuring that surveying information and cost advice is provided in an accurate and proficient manner
- Ensuring that the procurement of subcontract trades and suppliers is undertaken in a timely and cost effective manner
- Timely production of subcontract final accounts, including re-measurement as necessary to facilitate the optimum result Responsible for Estimating duties
- Requirements Minimum 5 years post graduate experience BSC Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent Fast track construction experience is essential, ideally within the joinery, passive fire protection and fit out disciplines.
- Experience at taking a project from inception feasibility stage, scoping, and full commercial management through to completion
- Commercial skills to maximise value recovery, cost control and cash management Contractually aware, with an excellent knowledge and understanding of subcontract orders and buying Experience of working as a Subcontractor would be of benefit, but not essential
