Lab Support Technician
£24,500 - £28,000 Basic Salary
Working in a state of the art building in Irvine
Overview
The position is responsible for providing support to the LIS and TLS service line onsite. The role will include, but is not limited to:
Contractor Management
- Liaising with 3rd party vendors with respect to scheduling of planned & reactive maintenance works
- Supporting supply chain to ensure that service provider terms and conditions are correct and in-line with site and equipment servicing requirements
- Monitoring and reporting on 3rd Party vendor performance against agreed KPIs
- Ensure contractors are cleared for site access, via vetting, induction, health questionnaire, etc.
- Ensure appropriate RAMS are in place
- Ensure Permits are issued where required
Planned Maintenance
- Supporting the Instrument Support Specialist in PPM & RM of self-delivery programme ie HPLC and GC
- Ensuring that Planned Maintenance is scheduled to be completed in-line with SLA and KPI requirements
Eluent Preparation
- Daily preparation of eluents, aligned to the laboratory schedule
- Transfer of eluent to appropriate labs
Stability Sampling/Stability Cabinets
- Monthly preparation, transfer and sampling of stability kegs
- Management and monitoring of contents list
- Co-ordination with GSK personnel to ensure appropriate protocol conditions are met for the transfer of samples to the stability cabinet
Other Duties
- The Lab Support Technician will be required to work flexibly between the two service lines, to encompass any urgent or unanticipated needs arising for increases or decreases in plant production schedules. Due to the 24/7 nature of the business, weekend work may be required to support the site requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintenance of the Asset list to ensure it is up-to-date at all times
- All maintenance carried out within the scheduling window and in accordance with SLA & KPI requirements
- Control of contractors under the LIS Scope
- Maintaining 100% in MyLearning
What we are looking for:
- Educated to degree level in a science or engineering subject (preferably chemistry)
- Enthusiastic, hard working and shows willing
- Confidence and communication skills to challenge behaviours and drive continuous improvement.
- Can perform under pressure and independent of supervision
- Customer focused
- Works well as a team
- Experience of working within a laboratory, GxP environment (preferred)
- Attention to detail & capability to work methodically to strict processes and procedures
- Compliance with health and safety requirements
