An exciting opportunity has arisen, supporting a large NHS organisation as a Senior Fire Adviser.
The post will be based in the North West on an interim basis for 3 months, at a Band 7.
The post holder will ensure that the organisation complies with Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RR)) legislation and will work closely with all relevant parties to ensure the provision of a fire safe environment for patients/staff/visitors.

The post holder will ensure that the organisation complies with Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RR)) legislation and will work closely with all relevant parties to ensure the provision of a fire safe environment for patients/staff/visitors.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice and support to assist the Board, Deputy Director of Quality, Risk and Assurance and the wider organisation in providing and maintaining safe levels of fire precaution within organisational premises in line with NHS HTM 0-5:01 (HTM05:02, HTM05:03) requirements (and any future and subsequent revisions);
- Maintain good relationships with the Local Fire Brigade;
- Review and improve the organisation’s fire safety strategy, management, policies, procedures, and standards to ensure they reflect current legislative requirements and guides, e.g., Fire code;
- Responsible for the provision and content of fire training and for ensuring fire risk assessments are in place that meet the statutory requirements;
- Act as main point of contact and expert advisor for fire safety management;
- Undertake fire risk assessments across all sites; disseminate ‘significant findings’ produce and monitor an effective action plan as necessary in line with current legislation and guidance;
- Create reports on an annual, quarterly, or monthly basis as required and under the direction of the Head of Health, Safety, Security and Fire;
- Develop and lead on the implementation of service changes and formulation of governance and assurance procedures, such as committees and reports, to ensure the organisation’s compliance with statutory and mandatory requirements;
- Programme, complete and evaluate follow up fire risk assessments;
- Responsible for using data sources available (Datix incident reports, risk assessment, safe systems of work, external agency inspections etc), providing recommendations of improvements that will increase compliance with health, safety, and fire legislation;
- Design and specify training courses in Fire Safety on the performance of specific roles, and to recommend the most appropriate and cost-effective delivery method;
- Carry our fire safety audits with other members of staff and contribute to periodic authoritative reports to management concerning the condition of fire precautions in the organisation premises.
A successful candidate will have:
- A degree level or equivalent experience in fire engineering / fire safety;
- Membership of a professional organisation e.g., MIFireE, IFPO or NAHFO;
- Knowledge and awareness of key national policy initiatives affecting the NHS;
- Experience of using windows applications and databases;
- The ability to produce quality written reports and analyse both quantitative & qualitative data sets;
- Track record of pr Fire Safety experience in an Acute Healthcare setting, producing fire safety policies, procedures, and reports in a healthcare setting;
- The ability to undertake fire safety audits;
- Training and good working knowledge in the application of NHS Firecode (HTM05 series).
