A safer London starts with a safer Met
The Met is the largest police service in the UK, with an estate to match. As Assistant Director for Estate Security & Standards, you’ll ensure that all our properties and sites are as safe and secure as possible. It’s a key operational security management role within a unique environment, which you’ll shape with your expertise.
This is a chance to lead the delivery of an enhanced security service across the extensive and diverse MOPAC/Met estate. With support from the Director of Security and Standards, you will take on a range of responsibilities including developing the Estate security team. Together, you’ll work to protect our people, assets and physical infrastructure from evolving risks, and internal and external threats. Roles don’t get much more important than that.
A key member of Property Service’s Real Estate Development team, you’ll strive to deliver excellent security outcomes within the capital programme and service delivery workstreams. These include a number of estate-related security design activities, for example, improving electronic and physical security arrangements across the estate. You’ll also give advice and manage the development of standards and their enforcement. The policies and governance you develop will be implemented across the Met.
To succeed, you’ll need to deliver much of your work through subject matter experts and providers outside your direct control. That means the matrix-management of non-Property Service staff will be absolute key to your success. We’re therefore looking for a confident communicator, with credibility and proven leadership skills – a calm, organised professional who’s tackled security, risk and business continuity in sensitive environments.
With this background, you’ll know about protective physical, electronic, personnel and information security measures applicable to the built environment, as well as understand support contracts. Plus, you’ve managed multi-faceted projects and delivered through multi-disciplinary teams.
