A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint a Senior Estates Operational Manager on an interim basis for 6 months, working in South West England.

Implementation and ongoing management of the Estates Operational Strategy and Estates Operational Plan, ensuring that the approach to implementation supports our Estates Vision and Objectives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Input to the development of and subsequent implementation of the Estates Quality Management System;
  • Support the development and delivery of the Estates Sustainability Strategy and Targets, embedding responsibility for their delivery across the whole of the Estates Operational Team;
  • Work with other Senior Estates Managers to formulate a detailed and risk profiled 5 year rolling Estate’s capital programme which is based upon maintenance, compliance and service needs;
  • Manage the relevant Estates Operational team members as relevant to their specialisation, i.e. (i.e., building / electrical / mechanical / systems);
  • Assume responsibility for any delegated 'pay' and 'non-pay' maintenance and other operational budgets covered by their role (i.e., building / electrical / mechanical / systems) plus any delegated capital schemes or new works relevant to the role;
  • Seek efficiency, performance and compliance improvements by implementing continuous improvement methodologies and achieving the ISO 9001 quality standard;
  • Support DPs, SOMs, and APs in gathering, monitoring, and presenting Estates Operational compliance data to determine and implement the most appropriate courses of action.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Degree level in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Energy, Environmental
  • Engineering, Building, Building services engineering, or equivalent;
  • Must have experience within the NHS/ Healthcare setting;
  • Must have strong technical skills in mechanical engineering - preferably hands on, tools-based experience;
  • successfully managing large estates teams (trade staff, estates officers etc.);
  • Computerised maintenance management systems - working within quality management;
  • Design and /or maintenance of building engineering services;
  • Analysis of data, presentation of findings;
  • H&S requirements for engineering;
  • Experience being an Authorised Person for mechanical disciplines - preferably pressure systems (e.g., steam).
