We currently have a new permanent opportunity for a Multi-skilled Electrical Engineer looking after 5 local schools in North London. Provided with a company vehicle, you will work between the schools completing PPM and reactive breakdown work across all electrical fixtures and equipment. As the role is multi-skilled you will also complete all 1 st fix mechanical work across the sites including basic plumbing so a good all-round experience and willingness to cover all manner of building services is needed.

The ideal person will be a proactive and take ownership of the sites. You will work closely with the on site caretakers who can perform make- safe duties on maintenance issues to help ensure the response KPI's are hit. Once made safe you will fix the issue and complete corresponding paperwork relative to compliance and health and safety.

Duties of the role include:


  • All electrical maintenance across the schools - planned checks, breakdown fault finding and small replacement projects works on lighting, wiring, circuit testing, fixed wire and fixed appliance testing, emergency lighting systems.
  • Repair electrical systems, wiring, circuit breakers, equipment, and other components so that they remain at full functioning capacity.
  • Test electrical systems with devices such as voltmeters and ohmmeters to ensure the system

remains safe and that components are compatible.


  • Provide suggestions on the lifespan of equipment and other electrical components, advising when certain components should be replaced due to potential risks.
  • Determine the reasons for any malfunctions of systems or components and create a maintenance or repair plan to solve the problem.
  • Undertaking minor plumbing works such as tap replacements etc.
  • Become a team player who will get involved in things that may arise.
  • Keep records of all maintenance and repair work conducted, including a record of any supplies ordered and used.

The Applicant

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:


  • City and Guilds or NVQ in an electrical discipline.
  • Fixed wire testing is desirable (not essential)
  • 17 th or 18 th edition
  • Good basic mechanical skills
  • Willingness to carry out all manner of maintenance works across the site.
  • Computer experience including verbal and oral communication skills preferred.
  • Full driving licence as the role comes with a Company vehicle.
