We are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to provide a professional mechanical building services engineering design and project management function in relation to (construction and construction engineering) project work that includes planned maintenance, alteration, refurbishment and new works; including the design, planning, execution and close out according to strict deadlines and within budget, whilst acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of all stakeholders in order to deliver projects within an established framework of “best value”.
On Offer: The role is a contract position circa 23-28/hr depending on experience level and payroll method. Monday to Friday circa 40 hours per week
Key Responsibilities, Accountabilities or Duties:
Project Work
Obtaining comprehensive client briefs and developing cost effective mechanical design solutions that reflect progressive mechanical services engineering methods in turn producing appropriate quality of documentation for the engagement of contractors for construction works
Overseeing the delivery of projects under your control, providing technical and professional advice on project planning, programming and procurement strategy as necessary to ensure that: all work is in accordance with legal and statutory requirements; that timescales, cost targets, appropriate standards of quality, performance and value for money are achieved.
Managing all resources allocated to project work including internal staff to ensure that project costs are minimised and available resources are efficiently allocated whilst optimising fee income; providing technical and professional advice as appropriate. Managing external consultants included on design teams formulated for project work.
Ensuring that, within all project related activities, a culture of positive health and safety management is promoted and achieved
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Possess a professional qualification (e.g. CIBSE or equivalent)
Have relevant experience in carrying out all aspects of a professional mechanical building services engineering design and project management function in relation to new build and refurbishment works, from project inception to completion.
Possess significant post qualification experience acting in the role of Project Building Services Engineer (Mechanical)
Experience of managing and directing staff with a mix of internal and external resources
Have a working knowledge of:
Microsoft Project and the Microsoft Office suite of programmes.
Auto CAD
HevaComp
Building contract procedures
Procurement strategies
CDM Regulations.
Experience of producing high quality reports and correspondence, and giving clear oral reports/presentations
Possess excellent communication skills both written and oral.
