We are recruiting for a Gas Combustion Engineer to be based in Birmingham, West Midlands. This is a permanent full time role working 40 hours per week.
Gas Combustion Engineer Overview:
We are recruiting for a qualified gas combustion engineer with full industrial and commercial gas/ oil accreditation and a range of experience on commercial and industrial dual fuel boilers/burners and or gas reciprocating CHP's.
The place of work will be based in and around a developing large scale District Energy Scheme in Birmingham city centre. The successful candidate will support from time-to-time a traditional M & E contract within c.50 commercial plant rooms around Birmingham City Council properties.
The existing scheme comprises a total boiler capacity of >50MW and 4.8 MW Gas reciprocating CHP.
The gas combustion engineer will provide additional gas combustion, boiler controls and electrical skills within the Operational Team and potentially train to become the Lead AP for the high temperature circuits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out repairs, reactive maintenance and minor installation works as instructed on plant.
- Knowledge of water treatment systems and their controlled uses would offer a distinct advantage, as this role requires weekly water condition testing in accordance with L8
- Knowledge and or AP 10 or AP 11 qualification, would offer a distinct advantage.
- The role also requires the successful incumbent to become part of a Call out Rota, one week every four weeks.
- Demonstrable skills and experience in the preventative, remedial and statutory maintenance of Commercial boiler/CHP plant, associated controls and pumps
- Experience of working on L/MTHW systems.
Required Qualifications, Skills or Experience:
- A relevant technical qualification - must include ACS Commercial Gas and oil qualifications and boiler/CHP experience.
- City & Guilds 17 th /18 th edition would be advantageous
- City & Guilds F-Gas would be an advantage
- Empirical skills in the remedial and statutory maintenance of Commercial boiler plant, CHP's and associated controls and pumps
- Experience of working on MTHW boiler systems and their statute maintenance regimes.
- Certified training to be provided to facilitate the use of Water Treatment programs / duties.
- DBS Check will be taken
