The Role - Head of Construction

Location – Berlin, Germany

Salary - €80,000 +

Our client is an exceptionally exciting travel and lifestyle pioneer who are growing at a very fast pace. Due to their successful growth we are now looking to assist in their appointment of a Head of Construction in Berlin, Germany.

The role will require and experienced head of construction who has dealt with projects in the hotels and hospitality sector and is well used to managing multiple projects at once.

Responsibilities


  • Managing multiple development locations and to ensure their successful completion.
  • Allocate, assign and plan resources according to position and task
  • Oversee sites and monitor the progress of development
  • Create detailed project schedules which identify and sequence the activities
  • Interface with upper management and all other stakeholders
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure projects remain on schedule
  • Assist in the selection of contractors/vendors
  • Ensure that SMs work within an approved budget
  • Respond to out of cycle maintenance needs in facilities
  • Review the maintenance status of locations
  • Oversee a team of Site Managers within a specific region
  • Review projects safety standards and adherence to local and state safety guidelines
  • Ensure that maintenance books are completed and turned over to location
  • Responsible for ensuring and complying with all local, health and safety codes and the implementation and supervision of preventative maintenance and all other maintenance needs of locations.
  • Inspect and review construction projects to monitor compliance with contract documents, building and safety codes, environmental or other regulations

You will also need to be able to build a culture of compliance for all departments, ensure that preventive maintenance guidelines are implemented and followed and a smooth workflow is maintained between departments.

Maintaining and building relationships with current and future vendors will also be a priority for you.

Qualifications for the role:



  • Bachelor's Degree required; Construction Management / Project Management degree is a big plus


  • Experience with construction project management; 7+ years of experience strongly preferred


  • Prior experience working for a general contractor highly preferred


  • Prior experience in construction of hotels highly preferred


  • Strong organization and time management skills


  • Thorough understanding of health and safety requirements
