BaxterStory recognised with Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award
BaxterStorey has been awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award, recognising its ongoing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community.
The award was presented at a ceremony held at Admiralty House within HM Naval Base Portsmouth last week, by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Mr Nigel Atkinson.
The ERS Silver Award recognises employers that demonstrate outstanding support for Defence and the Armed Forces community, including veterans, reservists, military families and cadet force adult volunteers. The scheme forms part of the Ministry of Defence's Armed Forces Covenant initiative.
Receiving the award on behalf of BaxterStorey, Camilla Howard, Operations Director (Sales), said: "I was delighted to receive the Silver ERS award. As one of many veterans within the business, it's particularly rewarding to see our commitment to the Armed Forces community recognised, from supporting forces charities through our many volunteering days, to dedicated recruitment pathways and industry-leading policies."
BaxterStorey has established a strong record of supporting current and former members of the Armed Forces through targeted recruitment campaigns, workplace policies and active engagement with military charities and community programmes. The company also operates an internal Armed Forces network, supporting veterans, reservists, cadets and military families across the business.
The Silver Award recognition rounds off a celebration of Armed Forces Week for BaxterStorey. Throughout the week, teams came together to support Veterans Aid and its community, hosting a charity lunch and bread-making workshop where ex-homeless veterans gained hands-on experience creating soda bread and pinch-back loaves. The freshly baked bread was served as part of lunch, with attendees leaving equipped with new skills and the confidence to recreate the recipes at home.
Teams across the business also marked Armed Forces Day by decorating serveries in celebration of the Armed Forces community, while chefs took part in a friendly internal bake-off challenge, creating plaited bread loaves inspired by the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force. The activities reflected BaxterStorey’s ongoing commitment to recognising, celebrating and supporting those who serve, or have served, in the Armed Forces.
The award ceremony was hosted by the Southeast Reserve Forces' & Cadets' Association (SERFCA) and forms part of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, which is delivered in partnership with Defence Relationship Management (DRM) to encourage and recognise employer support for Defence personnel and their families.
