The Role: Estates Officer – Education Site
Location: London
Salary: Up to £33,000pa + Great Benefits!!!

We are working with an award winning educational specialist to find them an Estates Officer who will care for the upkeep of a very varied site. The School is affiliated with the University of London and offers a range of courses that focus on Performing Arts.
The role Estates offer role exists in order to ensure high quality, effective, efficient and pro-active service to, and the smooth operational running of the School’s Campus through:
• Planned preventative maintenance.
• Maintenance & DIY tasks
• Security and keyholding.
• Portering tasks as directed.
Please note: This role is on a rolling shift work rota on 8 hour shifts from 07:30 until 23:30 depending on the shift and day of the week (Monday – Friday with occasional Saturday & Sunday working).
All about you:
- Proven experience of working in a Building maintenance or support role
- Qualified first aider or willing to complete training after commencement.
- Current Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check and/or willing to complete application before commencement.
- Previous experience of being able to assess operational risks in relation to health and safety.
- Good working knowledge of Health and Safety.
- To have the ability to resolve day-to-day operational problems as and when they arise.
- The ability to plan and manage own workload and be able to work without direct supervision.
- Commitment to excellence in customer care.
- Basic or Advanced Maintenance and DIY Skills and an interest to develop or obtain a new skill e.g. plumbing, electrical etc.
- Attention to detail to ensure that the School premises are in best condition in relation to cleanliness, order, maintenance and security.
- Show initiative and judgement in recognising when a problem needs to be referred to line manager or others to manage and resolve.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Service Delivery - To respond quickly and promptly to internal or external requests that are initiated by staff, students and Reception.
- To operate and adjust equipment controls such as ventilation, air conditioning and lighting.
- Carry out tasks relating to regular health and safety compliance.
- To receive and operate the internal service desk and respond to tickets requiring attention and complete to a satisfactory level.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance where required.
- Liaison and Networking - To liaise regularly with staff, students and visitors to the Campus to ensure information is passed on promptly.
- Teamwork and Motivation - To work as a team with other members of the Estates department and Reception.
- Pastoral Care and Welfare - To ensure the welfare of staff, students and individuals who visit Central.
- Initiative and Problem Solving - To solve day to day operational problems as and when they arise, for example equipment failures.
- Planning and Organising - The ability to plan and manage own workload and be able to work without direct supervision.
- Decision Making Processes and Outcomes - To make independent operational decisions that have an immediate impact, for example blocking corridor access while a spillage is being cleared up.
- To carry out tasks that require a range of sensory and physical demands, for example, regularly lifting heavy objects.
