We are currently recruiting for an Estates Manager to oversee 17 schools in the Bradford area. The schools are managed by building managers and so the Estates Manager will support remotely giving advice on guidance on compliance, maintenance and health and safety as needed. Carbon neutrality is a big focus of the portfolio and so updating and improving the portfolio will be a prominent part of this role.

The Role:


  • Supporting 17 schools to deliver a compliant and beneficial building environment with the aim of students having the optimal environment to learn in
  • Supporting Building Managers as they manage PPM and reactive maintenance on site through a mix of in-house staff and sub-contractors
  • Report running on the CAFM system to ensure site are in line with KPI's for technical compliance
  • Robust Health and Safety procedures for the estate including auditing the sites as required to ensure building are compliant and working with relevant professional bodies to pass external compliance audits.
  • Creating a staff network - taking the 17 independent schools and encouraging collaboration on estates management including a Caretaker network to support one-another.
  • Managing all Capital and Projects works across the sites
  • P+L budget management for the school's project works, awarding funding for works to the schools using a prioritization system
  • Completing funding applications and working with the finance team to obtain more funds for the estates department
  • Working towards the goal of the estate being carbon neutral by 2030, bringing in initiatives and changes to schools to achieve this target
  • As new schools join the portfolio, inducting them into the business and introducing them to the systems of working and CAFM procedures. Also completing asset surveys and audits of new sites to identify any issues that might need rectification.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:


  • Managing a portfolio of buildings previously
  • Strong health and safety knowledge - qualification desirable
  • Technical Compliance knowledge of building assets
  • Experience managing capital project work
  • Environmental knowledge of carbon neutrality, smart building etc.
  • Ideally a member of IWFM
