We were established by the Equality Act 2006 and our job is to protect and promote equality and human rights across England, Scotland and Wales. We do this by safeguarding and enforcing the laws that protect people’s rights to fairness, dignity and respect.

Britain has a strong reputation as a global leader in equality and human rights and we are committed to ensuring this continues into the future. We are ambitious to achieve maximum impact with the powers and levers available to us to bring about change in society and make a difference to individual’s lives.

As a statutory non-departmental public body, we are funded by HM Treasury via the Cabinet Office, but we operate independently of governments.

We pride ourselves on being a flexible and inclusive employer. We celebrate difference, embrace diversity and support all our people to thrive at work. If this sounds interesting - apply to join us!

Our Vacancy

This is an exciting time to join the Facilities Team, as we support the Commission in embracing organisational change and development following the global pandemic. Over the next 2 years, in addition to delivering our core work we will also support our return to offices, implement the new hybrid working plan and undertake two office relocations. There is lots of work to do, and juggling our priorities will not be easy, but if you are looking for a challenge, enjoy working in a flexible and supportive team, and you like a role where you will be able to have an impact on our workplace culture and environment – then we may have just the vacancy for you.

Key Responsibilities

We are recruiting for a Senior Associate (Level 3): Facilities, to join the team in a leadership role. Reporting to the Estates and Facilities Manager (Senior Associate (Level 4): Facilities), you will:

  • Perform a key role in the delivery of our return to offices, supporting the implementation and adoption of hybrid working.
  • Lead on developing a sustainability action plan to deliver the strategy and input in to policies and standards and setting targets to achieve organisational objectives.
  • You will also deliver upon a number of key projects and activities yourself within our Estates and Facilities workplan.

What we are looking for

The role will be varied, with a degree of uncertainty about the impact of the pandemic on your work, so you will need:

  • Resilience, flexibility, delivery focused and be able to build successful relationships quickly and effectively with a range of stakeholders, including our landlord and external suppliers
  • You will need to be a qualified Facilities professional with proven generalist environmental and sustainability knowledge, and sound knowledge of current legislation and good practice relating to the workplace and Health and Safety

In return, you will join a small but supportive team of Facilities professionals; you will be developed and encouraged to innovate and think creatively and you will be given an opportunity to work across the Commission on some of our corporate improvement priorities.
