Job Purpose


  • A multi-functional role to work as the QSHE Manager and champion for the ISP South Atlantic Contract on Ascension Island. The role includes but not limited to providing sound "hands on" support to all the delivery team including advice, assistance, training and mentoring as required. It is a senior management position.
  • To implement and ensure the QSHE systems and policies are fully implemented and understood by all on the contract and that the contract is fully compliant with all statutory legislation, QSHE policies and procedures
  • To provide QSHE advice to our client, company personnel, sub-contractors and whenever required the Base Commander and his staff, and to manage, arrange and monitor all self or joint audits and react to any non-conformances.

Responsibilities


  • To take full responsibility for the management and maintenance of the Company's Integrated Management System (IMS) and advise and assist management on the implementation of the company Management systems into their daily routines.
  • Assist the Account Manager to carry out regular and annual reviews of the systems.
  • Work closely with the management team to ensure that their respective annual QSHE targets and objectives are regularly reviewed and monitored and achieved.
  • Develop and deliver in house quality, health and safety and environmental training packages to identified personnel within the company.
  • Take responsibility for the production and regular updating and maintenance of the site specific QSHE plans.
  • Conduct QSHE Self Assessments as required and the annual QSHE comprehensive assessments in order to demonstrate continuous improvements of the IMS.
  • Undertake site QSHE Tours and produce detailed reports for the ISP Account Manager.
  • Take full responsibility for the establishing of the annual joint inspections and the departmental self check programmes.
  • Ensure that all departmental managers are fully briefed, trained and understand the Mite QSHE Regime.
  • Produce monthly analysis reports of the unsafe acts and trends and actions that must be taken to reduce/eradicate the trends.
  • Maintain accurate records and report monthly on QSHE statistics: Non conformances and actions taken to rectify them; Accidents and incidents; environmental energy, fuel and water usage and waste segregation, reuse, recycling and disposal to landfill.
  • Ensure that all waste management duty of care system is fully implemented and understood by all relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide a proactive roll in the investigation of all accidents, incidents and near misses that occur and provide prompt and accurate reporting in line with business processes, provide action plans, tool box talks, and process and procedure reviews to support the culture of prevention rather than cure.
  • Manage "compliance with the contract" through the EMO2, BSI audits and inspection matrix.
  • Ensure that all Managers and Supervisors are fully briefed, trained, registered and understand the reporting systems "EcoOnline" and "LiveSafe" and the important part they play in implementing them.
  • Support the Airfield Operations Manager in the delivery of the air side internal assurance regime and audits by external agencies.
  • Complete the monthly client report and provide QSHE data as required.

Knowledge Skills & Experience


  • NEBOSH diploma.
  • AMIOSH (tech) desirable.
  • Lead Auditor under BSI 9002/2008 Quality Assurance.
  • Environmental Qualification: IEMA
  • Demonstrate experience in carrying out audits to ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 requirements.
  • Must have experience in managing and maintaining both an IMS & EMS.
  • Knowledge of business and or experience of working in a construction or facilities management environment on an MOD Establishment.
  • Experienced in the provision of QSHE training to diverse employee groups.
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Must have a full driving licence.

  • Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate - Word, Excel, Microsoft Project & Web Access.
  • Proven track record in the provision of practical operational health and safety policy desirable.
  • Must have a flexible, hands on can do anything attitude and willing to pitch in with and at all levels of the contract.

You will be paid a salary, monthly site allowance and a bonus at the 6th Month. Hours of work are 47.5 per week. The contract duration is 6 months unaccompanied with 74 days leave (pro rata) excluding weekends. Air/sea transport for agreed holiday periods will be at Company's expense. Free accommodation, meals at mess and work clothing will be provided. Tax free status on island.
