Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen, supporting a large NHS organisation as a Senior Estate Officer – Electrical.

The post is working in London, initially for a period of 6 months, at a Band 7.

The post holder will be responsible for the operational management of electrical services across all London sites, including maintenance for the building management systems, maintenance for lifts, generator testing, portable appliance testing, emergency lighting, fire safety systems, security systems, access control and more.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the provision of electrical services, ensuring that these are safe and available for their intended use, and that the organisation complies with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements;
  • Oversee the management of reactive maintenance on matters related to electrical services;
  • Deliver internal department SLAs and KPIs;
  • Ensure implementation of safe systems of works in line with HTM, HSE and guidance;
  • Undertake Authorised Person responsibilities in relation to specified systems;
  • Attend and chair meetings as required;
  • Advise the Maintenance & Compliance Manager on all aspects of electrical services ensuring compliance with relevant guidance, health and safety standards, statutory compliance, codes of practice and regulations and that activities are carried out cost effectively and efficiently;
  • Provide contract administration to externally provided Estates Maintenance services in relation to electrical services to all London sites;
  • Ensure the provision of high quality, integrated services which are managed within set budgetary limits and demonstrate value for money through benchmarking against similar organisations;
  • Act as the Responsible Person and Authorised Person for services within area of expertise;
  • Develop and manage documentation systems including policies, procedures, registers, log books, and maintenance records, within all areas of responsibility;
  • Assist with the specification and design processes, for minor, capital, and estates backlog projects to ensure that they meet appropriate performance, energy, and safety standards;
  • Act as an Estates Technical Representative on Project teams;
  • Assist other Estates Managers in undertaking regular development and training reviews of designated staff, carry out appraisals, PDR’s and manage any grievance/disciplinary issues.

A successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience of Electrical Engineering/ Building Services;
  • Professional knowledge acquired through estate services management;
  • IOSH or equivalent H&S qualification;
  • Significant experience of monitoring and managing contracted maintenance staff and services;
  • Proven experience in successfully managing financial budgets;
  • Sound knowledge of all estate maintenance services and at least one specialised area;
  • The ability to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team.
