The Role


  • Professionally and Technically responsible for project management, project procurement and project design for allocated schemes on behalf of The Client. The production of Project Brief's' Concept Designs, Spatial Coordination, Technical Design, Site Supervision and Handover of projects undertaken by the company.

Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare, Co-ordinate and manage the delivery of delegated construction projects and support as necessary the activities of Capital Project Team members assigned to such projects
  • Collaborate in the formulation of long-term development plans for all hospital premises in the Trust to enable the delivery of the Trust's strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate in the preparation and development of an Estate Strategy.
  • The delivery of the assigned projects within the Capital Programme in accordance with the agreed time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate in the maintenance and management of a Trust wide property database including company information and records.
  • Prepare Business Cases for delegated projects and contribute advice to ensure that any bid for funding accurately reflects the user requirements, operational policy and financial implications.
  • Assist the Development & Commercial Works Manager and Deputy Development Manager to maintain effective partnerships with the other Directorates.
  • Contribute expert advice and support on all issues relating to delegated construction projects
  • Assist in the development and interpretation of highly complex strategic plans and aspirations as these relate to delegated projects and communicate these to others.
  • Maintain relationships with user interest groups and the local community.
  • Maintain relationships with outside agencies i.e. Local Authority Planning, Building Control, Fire Service etc.
  • Maintain relationships with professional consultants and contractors.
  • Manage assigned construction projects in accordance with the company Standing Financial Instructions.
  • Maintain high quality of design and detailing to provide an environment that is patient focussed to promote and assist in treatment and recovery.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Development Manager and other interested parties to develop and implement policies and procedures, which ensure all delegated projects fully comply with best practice requirements.
  • Participate as necessary in the recruitment, appointment, induction, and training of staff.
  • Assist in the delivery of highly specialised professional advice to the Trust and other external agencies on delegated projects about hospital design, value for money, life cycle costing and construction contracts.
  • Ensure that all delegated schemes are designed and procured in accordance with Best Practice and construction methodology by researching alternative forms of construction and procurement.
  • Carry out inspections on construction sites to advise on progress in line with programmes and liaise with Contractors in this regard.

Qualifications


      Have a degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology or Building Surveying.


Evidence of Project Management qualification.

Be qualified and eligible for membership of a recognised professional body eg RIBA, CIAT or RICS.

Minimum of five years' experience of the building process and particularly the design, detailing, specification, and supervision of complex construction projects (ideally Acute Health related, including Primary Care Facilities) of which three years will have been at a senior level.

Be prepared to undertake further studies and training to develop technical abilities and skills. ???????
