Operations Manager (Urban Energy / Geothermal Heating)

£55,000 to £65,000 per annum

Monday to Friday

Our client is currently recruiting for an Operations manager to join part of their existing Geothermal Heating site in Southampton.

Our client is a leading Facilities Management company and have a have a track record of success in some of the most complex and regulated workplaces in the UK. They are the leading authority in high-performance, sustainable facilities, asset, and workplace management in the UK.

As an Operations manager you will form a vital part of the management system. You will provide inspired leadership and maintain good quality standards for the productivity and efficiency of the organisation. You will oversee the management of labour, policy decisions and quality and safety control of your site-based team.

You will deal with the design and control of business operations to ensure continued and uninterrupted production and supply of district heating and cooling to multiple and differing stakeholders along with electricity export via private wire arrangements. Your duties will include overseeing high-level HR duties, conserving quality control and safety measures, analysing and improving operational maintenance processes and procedures, customer relations and financial performance for Geothermal Heating site.

Job Accountabilities:


  • Overall responsibility for all aspects of health & safety, operational performance, commercial management, financial results and customer relationships
  • Ensuring all Health and Safety Executive and Environment Agency legislative and compliance requirements are fully met. An example being The control of legionella bacteria in evaporative cooling
  • Set challenging individual and team goals, carry out regular performance reviews, produce and implement training plans and develop a site succession plan

Qualifications / Experiences:


  • Degree Level / HND in a relevant technical subject
  • Knowledge of CHP, Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Water Treatment
  • IOSH / NEBOSH
  • Experience of preparing and managing budgets
