An exciting opportunity has arisen within a large Healthcare organisation as a Senior Project Manager for Capital Delivery.

The post will be working in the East of England on an on an interim basis for 3 months, working on a band 8b.

To deliver an extensive and complex programme of new and remodelled estates infrastructures within the NHS.

Main Responsibilities:


  • The post holder will help deliver a comprehensive plan for the development of business cases and the implementation of the extensive capital programme across the 3 complex sites;
  • Provide extensive/ specialist knowledge in trends and developments in healthcare construction;
  • Manage projects in a diverse capital programme as part of a multi-year portfolio of projects, with a value of c. £200m to £300m over the next five years;
  • Ensure the delivery of capital investments to a consistently high standard, which ensures high quality and compliance and delivery to programme budget and time constraints;
  • Provide a high level of expertise in estates development to ensure delivery of the organisational goals;
  • Line manage and develop a highly skilled, multi-disciplined Capital Projects Delivery Team;
  • Co-ordinate with the clinical and non-clinical service transformation programmes, maintaining strong relationships with senior management;
  • Ensure projects are aligned with the organisation objectives, strategies, and policies;
  • Manage the procurement and delivery strategy for their projects, by maintaining a responsive and suitably developed supply chain for the planning and implementation of projects;
  • Maintain a good understanding of UK Government and Department of Health Strategies and policies for public sector investment and the development of healthcare estates;
  • Ensure plans are developed with wide-ranging consultation and stakeholder engagement at senior and strategic level to maintain alignment with clinical and non-clinical services transformation plans;
  • Guide and support comprehensive Risk Management Strategies and ensure they are adopted for every project within their remit which deals with the complexity and potential impact on the programme;
  • Ensure projects deliver excellent healthcare standards.

The ideal candidate will have:


  • Excellent understanding of Estates Project Management within the NHS/Healthcare sector;
  • Master’s degree, or significant proven experience;
  • Project management– such as Managing Successful Programmes and Prince 2;
  • Knowledge and experience in the delivery of complex programmes of estates capital investment;
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and analytical skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure within a co-operative multi-disciplinary team-based environment.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
