The Role: Compliance and Sustainability Manager

I am delighted to be working with a wonderful Leisure & Entertainment client with an extensive estate across the UK and beyond. There is a real buzz in the air as 2021 brings fresh ideas and new projects to embark upon. To strengthen their inspired in-house team the hunt is on for an amazing Buildings Compliance and Sustainability Manager.

All about You:

You will need to be adaptable and creative with the most excellent eye for detail along with the capacity to look at the bigger picture.

You will have significant experience and exposure to managing building compliance for multiple sites and be a real team player. Your standards will be high and you will be able to clearly demonstrate previous successes that have involved using your initiative to deliver practical solutions and top notch strategy. There will be a requirement for Nationwide travel with the role, so you must be happy to do so.

All about the role:

As a key member of the Facilities Management team, you will actively provide advice and guidance to the Group Operations function to ensure all the organisation’s operational activities in venues and offices across the UK (and internationally) are conducted in accordance with all current legislation and industry guidance.

The role will act as the subject matter expert for the group’s dynamic and diverse operating portfolio, ensuring they remain compliant in everything they do, delivering frontline as well as strategic support to colleagues across the organisation.

The role must also support the company’s drive to reduce its environmental impact, through the operational delivery of the CSR strategy.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Subject matter expert for Group Operations in statutory compliance, health, safety & sustainability
  • Maintain, manage and audit the Meridian statutory compliance management system
  • Oversee strategic direction and approach to compliance management and drive the compliance agenda.
  • Produce frequent management reporting on all property and facilities related compliance both statutory and legislative – understand the data and spot the trends.
  • Day to day supplier relationship management.
  • Provide support, advice and guidance to the venue management and the wider stakeholder community.
  • Support and lend your expertise to the business interruption and major incident planning process.
  • Emergency/Incident response/callout as and when required.
  • Work closely with the Risk Management team on;

    • Policy development
    • Investigations (accidents, incidents)
    • Venue audits
    • Any other relevant activities that would require compliance expertise.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential


  • A good level of education, preferably to degree level or equivalent
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong grasp of computer systems such as Office 365, CAFM and compliance management
  • A relevant health and safety qualification

Desirable


  • Industry affiliation, recognition or accreditations
  • 3+ years of experience in facilities, property and compliance, including working knowledge of the range of software systems available in the industry.
  • Experience of working on (or being involved with) any of the following; Carbon Reduction Commitment, Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme, Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting.
