An incredible opportunity has become available as a BMS Command Centre Operative for the largest Facilities Management companies in the UK. Purpose: 

To be based at the global headquarters of one of the largest growing contracts in the UK. The ideal candidate will oversee 150 sites across the world from a large command centre. 

Responsible for managing the intelligent building control systems and associated equipment that support the efficient and compliant operation of over 150 sites across the world.

To be the owner and assurer of these systems and provide ongoing leadership and support to the maintenance teams to ensure optimum performance and reliability throughout their life cycle.

Key Responsibilities: 

Maintain a responsible attitude to work, be able to work unsupervised and apply technical and manual skills required to meet requirements of the Contract when carrying out:


  • Provide a Technical point of contact for Client and Site Technical Staff while ensuring all planned and reactive works on Honeywell, Metasys and other PLC control systems, stand-alone controllers and HMI’s including energy and power management system and lighting control systems and steam queuing system are completed to the correct client and legislative standard. 
  • To monitor and assure the environmental controls within the building and in specialist areas conform to the required specifications and tolerances, including the review and analysis of alarm logs, leading the diagnosis and rectification of any deviations at root cause.
  • To ensure change control is applied to documentation, software and hardware and to develop methods of communicating changes to client and internal teams is robust and effective.
  • Review alarm management protocols including critical alarm management procedures, reviewing key events including root cause analysis and appropriate response procedures and control measures.
  • Liaise with site and client management during any emergency operations or procedures.
  • Equipment and services inspections, testing, planned maintenance, modifications and fault finding
  • Investigations, diagnoses and rectification of faults on mechanical / electrical distribution systems, plant and equipment when appointed to do so
  • Start up, operation and shut down of service plant, equipment and systems when authorized
  • To carry-out Technical and Quality Audits to ensure assets and operations are technically and statutory compliant.
  • To identify and agree system enhancements to improve resilience and performance, including proposing specifications with the Client for extra works and then liaise with prospective subcontractors and prepare quotation to be submitted to the client via the Management Team.

Required Experience and Qualifications:


  • Preferably be an apprentice trained engineer who has recognized technical qualifications in Control Systems Engineering and preferably working towards Incorporated Engineering registration with an approved engineering body.
  • Significant industry experience in control and automation at technician/engineer level working in a critical environment reinforced with sound knowledge of Building Services 
  • Working knowledge of Honeywell and Metasys BMS system and Integrated BMS systems, Dahli lighting control system.
  • IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification (desired not essential)
  • Show diligence in safe working methods both for staff and occupants of the premises we are working in.
  • Impart knowledge and safety training to all members of staff as required
