A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Decontamination & Sterile Services Manager on an interim basis for 3 months working in London.
Client is interested in speaking to candidates who hold working experience in SSD outside of the NHS.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for ensuring that the organisations customers are supplied with sterile theatre instrument sets, sterile surgical instruments, sterile procedure packs, sterile single-use items and disinfected flexible endoscopes at the times;
  • Plan and organise the broad range of activities, processes and procedures conducted by the speciality including strategies in conjunction with the Head of Decontamination and Medical Equipment Director of Estates and Facilities and relevant Clinical Leads;
  • Application of professional judgement, specialist skills and detailed scientific knowledge when reviewing and interpreting scientific data to manage and ensure a safe service is provided;
  • Practice as a qualified Senior Specialist and always provide a high-quality service, liaising with other agencies as appropriate;
  • Accountable for the implementation of all statutory and regulatory requirements, introducing, implementing and managing work standards and practices that are accredited to European Standard ISO 13485 and the Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC;
  • Identify, develop and drive strategies that will ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and continuously improving services;
  • Manage the entire budget for the organisation wide decontamination service.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Significant experience in Sterile Services at a Management grade within the NHS/Healthcare setting;
  • In-depth knowledge of decontamination technology;
  • Proven experience record of managing self-development and managing teams effectively;
  • Up to date knowledge of legislation and the ability to translate this into practice;
  • Current knowledge of legislation, Standards, Guidance and practices related to decontamination of medical devices;
  • Ability to interpret knowledge of Standards etc and to formulate Trust wide policies and operational procedures;
  • Knowledge of and practical application of quality systems, consistent with requirements of the Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC;
  • High level of communication skills including verbal and written.
  • Client is interested in applications from those who have experience in SSD outside of the NHS.
