SHEQ Manager 

Monday to Friday - 40-hour week

Salary - Competitive + company benefits. 

The SHEQ Manager will play a vital role for a global FM company, working alongside an already established SHEQ team to ensure that the operations are legally and contractually compliant, and represent excellence in service delivery.  

Job Accountabilities


  • Ensuring that existing SHEQ advisory services are always maintained and available on matters affecting the health, safety and welfare of employees and those who may be affected by their activities whilst at work.
  • Ensuring that the requirements of CDM 2015 are applied throughout the business operational activities. 
  • Advising Management on all HS&E, occupational health and welfare matters, and keep them appraised on the success or otherwise of the measures, and advising management of possible alternative arrangements.
  • Auditing places of work, focusing on provision of safe systems of work, safe places of work and attitudes towards HS&E.  Issue formal reports, recommending corrective action.
  • Carrying out investigations into all accidents/incidents, fires and dangerous occurrences, and issuing reports detailing causes and recommended action. Ensure that Accident/Incident database (AIMS) is updated on a regular basis and that actions are closed in a timely manner.
  • Providing support and advice to operational teams in respect of health and safety legislation, company policy and procedures and safe working practices 
  • Develop understanding of the standards set in the various management systems for SHEQ.
  • Carry out regular site monitoring of operations to ensure standards and legislative requirements are met. 
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of H&S, including CDM and Environmental legislation.
  • Carry out internal audits to ensure standards are met.
  • Provide in-house health and safety training of employees as required where this is within their area of competence.
  • Investigate RIDDOR and lost time incidents accidents and produce a report with recommendations to prevent a recurrence.
  • Make appropriate reports to the enforcing authority and meet their representatives when required as directed by the Sector Head of SHEQ.

 About you:


  • Significant experience in Health & Safety, preferably within a rail environment is desirable.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Full driving licence preferred but not required. 
  • Experience using/providing company information to the RSSB RISQS portal.
  • NEBOSH Certificate, Diploma or equivalent 
  • Sentinel is desirable.
  • Certificate in Environmental Management
